Caretakerboss Jason Richards fielded the strongest side possible for the visit off Whitegate, with Matty Thomas away, Richards had 12 available players and they did not let him down.
With the usual faces in the starting line up, Ben Valentine came in for the injured Mike, Kyle Coppack returned for a place on the bench and Steve Garnett returned after missing the last game through work commitements.
The game got off to a slow start but the break through came from a Jason Richards header when a header evaded everyone and took a wicked bounce over the keeper and nestled in the back of the net. Sean Marryweather got his first of the afternoon with a nicely hit shot which meggsed the keeper to make it 2-0 for wrexham. Goal number 3 came from the boot of Ben Valentine amd goal number 4 came from the ginger warrior Tinney. Ben Valentine got his second of the afternoon before half time making it 5-0 to Wrexham at half time. Not to mention it should have been 6-0 but Azzy Jones headed over when he should have scored.
Half time subsitution saw Kyle Coppack come on to replace the injured Matthew Watson at left back in the only change of the game for Wrexham
The second half started better then the first with Jason Richards having a sneaky attemot at goal straight from the kick off but that came to no evail.
Nathan Williams in goal for Wrexham had a very quiet game and his long kicking was causing trouble left right and centre for the whitegate team. Goal number 6 came from an unlikely source in what turned out to be the best goal of the game from centre half Dan Sear after he riffled the ball from 25 yards out and we all seen the ball hit the back of the net, que celebrations from the Wrexham lads, Dyfan and Dan were working well at the back together and Dyfan got himself on the score sheet himself with a nicely worked ball from Steve Garnett which missed everyone and Dyfan slotted the ball home to make it 7-0 to Wrexham and the goalscoring didn’t stop there. Yong Jack Scott was loving some long runs and his rewards for all his work was a nice headed goal after a Tinney strike was too hot for the Whitegate keeper to hold onto allowing the Young right back to header the ball into the bottom corner to make it 8-0.
Jason Richards got his second and Wrexham’s 9th with a header from a Josh Tinney cross which the keeper palmed into the net. Sean Merryweather got his second of the game with a well worked strike after Garnett doing all the work again and had a great game on the wing. Steve finally got on the score sheet to score goal number 11 of the day and equal Wrexham’s highest ever goal talley in a game. Jason Richards bagged his hat trick after some outstanding work from Steve Garnett in the midfield, which allowed Garnett to slot Richards in to side foot the ball past the keeper from a slight angel to make it 12-0 to Wrexham and in the process set a new goal scoring record.
Goal number 13 came from the trustly right boot off Steve Garnett allowing him to get his second goal of the game and in the process continue his more then perfect goal scoring record, everytime he plays he scores.
The last goal of the game and number 14 came from Sean Merryweather after ghosting through the whitegate defence to slot his 3rd of the game and complete his hat trick.
Cracking effort from the lads, another clean sheet after a solid performance at the back from all four defenders.
Records where set today and the lads scored some fantastic goals as well with 8 different players scoring this afternoon.
Made a caretaker boss very happy so we can take that performance into the next game and we can make teams fear us now
One more fact from todays game is that the 74th goal was scored this week when goal number 14 went in. 74 goals in 13 games is some achievement
Well done boys
Keep it up and lets go and score many more goals as well
Matty is back next week so he will be back in charge for the next game.
